Lyrics:
calling your will to slip away burning my hand in killing pain can't you give it time to forget what a price for your lonely heart cell wading in time lost with every stride searching the dust i've borne inside A: toll of loss is stronger now stronger now that you are gone B: dreaming here in my cell lost the way of the open door light is gone from my life piercing chain of those frequent lies A: press of days is longer now longer now that you are gone B: hold to none of the signs crime out of fear pours all out over time anger now is undead out of pain conceived in your head

This song tries to describe what it must be like to be someone who harbors some old pain or guilt or whatever and won't let go of it to live in the present. Sort of like morning a lost loved one for twenty years and locking yourself in your closet (figuratively). Of course, not everyone takes it to that extreme. I probably wrote this song as early as 1992. I tried to record it several times with different people singing the part that I wanted to be a female voice. A friend of mine tried it, but she was too operatic. My sister tried but she was too formal about it (some singing teacher taught her to enunciate everything and I disliked the sound). When I met Julie, I knew that she was the one to do it. So I talked her into it and FINALLY the song sounded the way I wanted. I was very pleased with it.
