I think the metaphor is pretty self-explanatory.... When your ship sinks you hope you wash up somewhere. And when you do, you are probably going to curl up on the beach in the first warm spot you can find and wish the world would all go away. On this song I used a lot of echoes and reverberation to give a sense of motion that is hopefully similar to what you hear when you are on the beach: Waves crashing and reverberating, sea gulls crying, etc. It might even have an underwater sort of a feeling, which is also ok because there is always the risk of drowning. I used an organ on the chorus to give it an almost funeral feel. It was a crappy low end Yamaha keyboard and I don't play piano (yet) so who knows how effective it was.
